A graduate of Georgetown High School, Dr. Jones earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. After graduating from the University of Houston College of Optometry, he worked for seven years as a full-time optometrist in Temple, Texas.
His lifetime desire to teach elementary school led him to a two-year study at the University of Texas at Austin. He continued working as an optometrist on weekends and during school breaks while he taught fourth grade for the Killeen, Plano, and Little Elm school districts. In 2010, he earned a Master of Education degree in Education Technology from Lamar University. Dr. Jones began working at Eye Exams in 1998 after moving to Plano to marry Kelli Phillips.
The couple shares an interest in quilting and sewing crafts. Dr. Jones also enjoys reading, watching old movies, and model-building. In 2015, after a year of teaching at a high school in the Dallas school district, Dr. Jones left teaching to begin working full-time for Eye Exams.
